Ideological Cataracts   versione testuale
Cardinal Carlo Caffara at the Congress of the Holy Cross Pontifical University in view of next October's Synod of Bishops

Our society needs to rediscover the beauty of marriage and of the family, by removing from its eyes the "cataracts of ideologies" that prevent us from seeing reality. The Cardinal Archbishop of Bologna, Carlo Caffara, stated this today at the opening of the Congress on Marriage and the Family, organized by the Faculty of Canon Law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. The work is centered on the anthropological question and the evangelization of the family. Overcoming the attempts of "ideological colonization" of the family, as defined by Pope Francis, and the renewal of the "theology of the body and sexuality" are two elements from which to start in order to truly rediscover the "Gospel of the Family", as next October's Synod of Bishops intends to do. For the Archbishop of Bologna, the "theology of the body and sexuality" in the teaching of St. John Paul II must be taken up again, in order to generate a new commitment to education in the whole Church.
