The government rejects accusations of unconstitutionality regarding the law against homosexuality. The crime as defined in the Anti Homosexuality Act is well defined and non ambiguous, and satisfies the principle of legality as contained in the Constitution.
The government defends the law, against which a petition was presented by 10 Ugandans (some of whom are well known persons), that view the law to be discriminatory toward gay persons, “unconstitutional”, and “draconian”.
For its part the government argues that the law does not constitute a violation of the rights and liberties guaranteed in the constitution. The government wants court to dismiss the petition. Court is yet to fix the date for hearing of the case.
