The decline in the image of the family can be "more dangerous than the disaster of the bomb on Hiroshima." This statement was made by the Archbishop of Cotonou, Msgr. Antoine Ganyé, who expressed his hope for a humanistic revival to face the issue of marriage and the family, at the seminar in preparation for the October Synod, held on June 14th in the conference room of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. At this meeting, sponsored by the Bishops’ Conference of Benin as a contribution to the Synod of the Church in Africa, the Apostolic Nuncio of Benin and Togo, Msgr. Brian Udagwé, invited participants to apply the principle of "seeing, judging and acting" to the reflection on the Synod. He urged them to hear, see and reflect on the situation of the family in Africa through the eyes of God, and to contribute through effective action to the implementation of the decisions taken on the basis of the observations.
