The Celebration of Life
The vigil to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Evangelium Vitae, on March 24th, in Rome, was a great success. The artistic moments and the special Holy Rosario, enriched by touching testimonies, were appreciated.

A great celebration of life, through all its human forms: from art to spiritual dimensions, naturally passing via practice, in personal testimony. All of this was reflected in the vigil for life "Evangelium Vitae - Twenty Years", sponsored on Tuesday, March 24th, by the Pontifical Council for the Family at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Encyclical letter written by St. John Paul II.

The many participants at this afternoon gathering especially appreciated the first two moments of celebration and prayer: the first was entirely dedicated to the art history analysis of some figurative elements inside the basilica that evoke the theme of life; the second was intended to honor Evangelium Vitae with a meditation of the Holy Rosary, interspersed with brief statements (accompanied by the projection of suggestive images) by representatives from the world of pro-life associations. The highpoint of this beautiful day was the Eucharistic celebration presided by the President of the PCF, Msgr. Vincenzo Paglia. In his homily, Archbishop Paglia stressed that "the love of life must find new ways, new perspectives, because the task that the Lord has given us is to love others up to self-sacrifice: a real vocation for all Christians." The end of Holy Mass was followed by the Consecration to Mary, Mother of life, with the common recitation of the final prayer in St. John Paul II‘s Encyclical.
