Proposals for formation at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for the new academic year

Licenses, doctorates, diplomas and masters‘ degrees: as always and even more than ever, the offer of formation at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute is rich. The program for the academic year 2016-2017—the 35th year since the Institute‘s foundation by Pope John Paul II—is varied. "The goal—explain the promoters—is twofold: to deepen the knowledge of the truth about marriage and the family, in the light of faith and with the help of the different human sciences; and to prepare priests, religious and laypeople to render an increasingly qualified academic and pastoral service."

Among the proposals are the licentiate in the theology of marriage and the family, the diploma in family pastoral ministry, a doctorate in theology with a specialization in the Sciences of marriage and the family, and the continuous formation in family pastoral ministry for priests. As for the masters, in addition to the one in Family Counseling and the now "classic" path in the Sciences of marriage and the family, a special cycle has been conceived for the latter, in collaboration with the Italian Bishops Conference and addressed to local churches, which "provides a path with an innovative structure and proposes a fundamental unit associating theological preparation, pastoral care, and periods of fraternal life."
A Masters in Bioethics and formation marks the beginning of the collaboration with the Institute of Bioethics of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, offering an interdisciplinary academic formation on issues concerning human life in the age of technology, placed in the context of fundamental anthropological, theological-moral and legal references." This Master—add the organizers—provides tools that make it possible to place the bioethical issues in the different educational and consultative contexts, the former in view of the preparation of formators and the latter for ethical committees and consultancies."
"Responding to the urgent pastoral need in the context of today‘s social and cultural debate, with a proposal to illuminate the spouses‘ path in the fecundity of their love," the master in Fertility and conjugal sexuality is offered in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Sacred Heart." It ensures qualified scientific and practical formation on the natural regulation of fertility, in view of an adequate theological and anthropological vision of sexuality and conjugal love. The academic proposal—conclude the promoters—provides teaching courses and practical training."
Inscriptions for all the programs are open until 3 October.
