Amoris Laetitia "Speaking" Hindi
The Indian Bishops‘ Conference has presented the translation. Objective: to "infect" the society

"Spread the teaching of the exhortation into society‘s bases, with the focus on Catholic families." This is what led the Conference of Catholic Latin Rite Bishops of India (CCBI) to sponsor the Hindi translation of Amoris Laetitia, the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation "on love in the family," published by Pope Francis on April 8th of this year.
The translation was presented at a press conference in Bangalore, Karnataka. The text was shown for the first time by Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Mumbai, President of the CCBI and of the Federation of Asian Bishops‘ Conferences (FABC), who placed the first copy into the hands of H.E. Msgr. Anil Couto, Archbishop of Delhi.
The Conference—say the Bishops—is committed "to strengthening family life, despite all the challenges it faces": the translation will be useful especially to Catholics in the northern part of the country, where Hindi is the mother tongue.
During the press conference, the Bishops emphasized that upcoming events of the CCBI will also be focused on the family: the FABC‘s 11th Plenary Assembly in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 28 November to 4 December 2016, with the theme "The Catholic Family: The local Church of the poor and the mission of mercy," and next biennial assembly of the Conference, to be held in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) from 31 January to 8 February 2017, will discuss the "Joy of love in the family: Amoris Laetitia and its implications for India."
