Presentation of the Film Festival of the World Meeting in Philadelphia: Films can be enjoyed by the whole family from 22 to 25 September

The World Meeting of Families will also have its own film festival. It was announced a few days ago that the Film Festival will open on September 22nd and close on Friday the 25th, just before the arrival of Pope Francis in Philadelphia. The Festival's projections, curated by the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, will be will take place at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, along with other initiatives promoted on the occasion of this great event in Philadelphia.

"Never before at a World Meeting of Families has a film festival been planned―said Donna Crilley Farrell, executive director of the World Meeting of Families―and this is an extraordinary opportunity for families to come together throughout the week to share in true quality time via these films."
The Films set to be shown at the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater include "The Mighty Macs, "Wide Awake", "Diary of a City Priest" and "The Wizard of Oz." The festival will also premiere "Urban Trinity," a film chronicling the history of Catholicism in Philadelphia, produced by Sam Katz.
"Through the joy of cinema―said Sharon Pinkenson, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office―we wanted this festival to unite the thousands of international guests who will visit here as well as our local residents, through the power of film. For many of the selected films, Philadelphia serves as the backdrop for powerful and compelling stories. It seemed only appropriate that we celebrate and share that with the world."
