Bishop Malone: "Celebrate the blessing of marriage and support engaged and married couples"

"Celebrate the gift and blessing of marriage, and affirm and support engaged and married couples" are, according to Richard Malone, Chairman of the Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the objectives of the National Marriage Week (7-14 February) and the World Marriage Sunday, celebrated on Valentine's Day (Sunday, 14 February).

Resources to support bishops, priests and deacons in preaching on marriage, the letter from the bishop, a Bulletin insert on the social benefits of marriage are available, among other things, on the site, along with resources three options for a seven-day virtual marriage retreat: "Marriage and Mercy", in harmony with the Jubilee Year; "A marriage retreat with Pope Francis," based on his advice about marriage and family life; and "Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan," inspired by the pastoral letter on marriage of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
