The Plenary Assembly of the Bishops of Angola centers its three-year pastoral plan on young people and faith

"The Young and Received Faith," "The Young and Celebrated Faith," and "The Young and Witnessed Faith" are the major themes of the three-year pastoral plan approved by the Plenary Assembly of the Angolan Bishops, which ended on October 19 in Luanda. The theme of youth will be taken up in all the archdioceses and dioceses during the National Eucharistic Congress, on 13 November. Reflecting on the country's socio-political, economic, and religious situation, the Bishops noted with concern that the economic and financial crisis continues affecting the purchasing power of families already exhausted by poverty and unemployment. The Bishops also addressed the issue of deforestation, the cause of demolition that has left entire families in misery and suffering. Moreover, increased unemployment among young people is leading to despair, uncertainty, rising crime, and violent attacks across the country. Consequently, the bishops have asked the government to adopt policies that encourage the ongoing dialogue with citizens, a culture of legality, respect for human dignity, and the progressive satisfaction of the most urgent needs of the population.
