A Signature for Marriage   versione testuale

On Sunday, May 12th, the collection of signatures to request a referendum on the definition of the family as a union between man and woman started. This collection of signatures is promoted by the organization “U ime obitelji” (In the name of the family), which brings together various civil realities, groups and associations; the action is taking place from 12 to 26 May in 2,000 locations around the country.

The question of the referendum proposed by the initiative is: “Do you want a Rule of Law stating that marriage is the union of life between a man and a woman to be introduced into the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia?
In the first two days of signature-collecting, 130,000 people have signed to request a referendum. In order for this request to be valid, 375,000 signatures must be collected in a fortnight. The petition is supported by representatives of the Catholic Church, the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Muslim community in Croatia, as well as by other representatives of public life in Croatia.
