The heartfelt appeal of Msgr. Kaigama of Nigeria

Msgr. Ingatius Kaigama, President of the Nigerian Episcopal Conference, is calling on Boko Haram not to harm the captive girls and to immediately free and return them to their parents. His worry is more than tangible for these girls between the ages of 12 and 15 who were kidnapped by the infamous terrorist group that for years has brought discord to the country. Msgr. Kaigama noted the brutal nature of the group, describing it having no sense of humanity, as the leader Boko Haram spoke of selling these girls into forced marriages. Describing the event as a tragedy, he noted that the group claims “to make war in the name of God", but he "does not know what type of God they have.” The Bishop invited the Nigerian government, the USA, and European Institutions to work together, above all the level of intelligence, to prevent similar violence and defeat the terrorist groups efforts.
