Nigeria's Archbishop Kaigama: "Address the decline of family values with the help of the teaching of the Church"

"Address the decline of family, moral and social values with the help of the teaching of the Church." At the end of the Second National Meeting of Families, which took place in Lagos in April, Msgr. Ignatius Kaigama, President of the Episcopal Conference of Nigeria, called on the Catholic families to take up this mission.

During a time of prayer, at the meeting which was attended by nearly 1,000 delegates from eight of the country's nine ecclesiastical provinces, the Archbishop expressed his hoped that the gathering would "root God's presence in the Catholic households throughout the country, so that Jesus Christ may be shared with a world that greatly needs him. A meeting such as this, which focuses on Jesus, is the only path to lasting happiness, and it is—he said—providential, especially in these difficult times, as the families face enormous challenges."
