Heterologous Fertilization?   versione testuale
Between the demographic winter and looking for a child at any cost

I'm always highly up to date on the challenges raised by biotechnology with respect to human procreation. On the international scene, there are many countries where it is possible the use heterologous fertilization. Finally this is so even in Italy, where the recent Constitutional Court ruling that abolished the prohibition of heterologous medically assisted fertilization has in fact opened a problematic and troubling scenario.

At the link below (http://www.avvenire.it/Lettere/Pagine/direttore-risponde-uteri-in-affitto-verita-stravolta.aspx ) you can find the Dossier assembled by the Catholic newspaper “Avvenire” on this subject and, among other things, interventions on the current legislation in other countries (Britain, France, India, USA, Latin America, Russia, China), where heterologous fertilization and the so-called phenomenon of womb renting is legal or, in any case, allowed. On our behalf, we are making available, in the annex and in the various languages, the article “Assisted Reproduction and IVF” by Jean-Louis Bruguès, which figures in the Lexicon (on ambiguous and controversial terms about family, life and ethical questions) published by the Pontifical Council for the Family. The article, while not particularly up-to-date on the latest technological and legal developments, is nevertheless a tool valuable for putting the issue into the right perspective.
